Condition guide

Gout

Sudden joint inflammation caused by uric acid crystal buildup, often in the feet or ankles.

In simple language

Gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis caused by uric acid crystals collecting in a joint. Flares often come on suddenly and can be very painful, red, warm, and swollen.

Uric acid levels are influenced by kidney handling, hydration, alcohol, diet, insulin resistance, and some medications, so prevention is often broader than one food list.
